Extended for 2 nights at DIXON PLACE

hello from lumberob -

i am playing OFF THE HOZZLE two more nights next week : Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th of JUNE at 8pm, DIXON PLACE 258 Bowery… OFF THE HOZZLE (EXTENDED RUN). it was a very productive residency for me in MAY; i wrote a show, built a show, played a show, changed the show, rewrote the show, cut the roller skating and the krumping, crammed the show full of so much language i barely found time to play beats, encouraged the audience to pee a little (cut that bit), lost my voice, drank whiskey onstage, stripped to my underwear and bounced a golfball off the face of the club while on roller skates (decided to cut that bit), um… i added some krumping back in one night but decided it distracted from the well-crafted narrative i was weaving, had been weaving, am weaving for you here and now all at once forever. please, i realize some of you have seen the show… if possible please pass along this email to anyone that you think could possibly be interested in such hearty FINE ART… and actually since i am casually referring to this extended run as the (((dub remix))) perhaps you might come back for more and when i say “more” i think you might find that there are plenty of stones left unturned for skip skip skip skip skip skip skipppping across the water that is my fluid text. i am trying so very hard to keep it under 75 minutes, not lose even one word, and play twice as much dubmassive lumberob. um AND for those of you that have not made it out, please come along next weekend. IT’S FUN. it is not boring. it may confuse for a moment BUT then you realize that i am confused as well, we share the confusion. YES just as you are asking yourself “why is he doing this?” i am also asking myself, “why am i doing this?” but then i eventually remember why, every time i have played the show i have remembered why i play the show… because i wrote the show to be played and so i play it. i am a player… however i cannot guarantee that such reasoning acts as appropriate seasoning for anything other than my own veggie gumbo. please yes please remember my ponypuppykitty has much to offer, much to give and much to take. come dumb it down a bit, come sharpen your noodle, come hold but don’t juice a large Florida grapefruit, come sweat it out with me at Dixon Place next friday the 13th and saturday the 14th of JUNE. OFF THE HOZZLE by lumberob (((dub remix))) love, rob

OFF THE HOZZLE by lumberob, developed in residency at Dixon Place.

Thursdays, May 1, 8, 15, 22 at 8:00pm

Dixon Place, 258 Bowery, 2nd Floor, between Houston & PrinceGen

Admission: $12, Stu/Sen $10;

Here’s what some folks have been saying about Lumberob and his work:

“Lumberob is a terrible witch doctor. You’ve seen the forest in which he works his dark sono-linguistic magic, but only from the outside. Enter its interior, and you will be ecstatically sorry.”- Sibyl Kempson

“Lumberob’s music is the most intoxicating and addictive drug available. All you encountering it for the first time beware! You’ll never be able to get enough. “- Pavol Liska

“Lumberob’s music is the primal explosion underlying every New Yorker’s outer layer of civil neuroticism. It makes you want to give away all your possessions or gun people down in the street, depending on your mood that day. “- Zachary Oberzan

Off the Hozzle: One mic. two pedals. two feet. it’s a vocal show : loud, soft, fast, and slow.

lumberob is part dub clown, part broken down - an experiment in layers and loops.

Off the Hozzle is a rare long format lumberob show, a new piece of properly built bumpy grinder beatbox and fairly advanced golf swing theory.

lumberob hopes to sock your knocks off!
